National Affairs

  • Firstly, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 in New Delhi. It marks five years of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Additionally, new education projects worth ₹4,000 crore were announced. These include AI-based learning and campus upgrades.
  • Moreover, the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) started the “Saksham Niveshak” 100-day campaign. It will run from 28 July to 6 November 2025. The goal is to help investors claim unclaimed dividends and update KYC details so their money does not go to the IEPF.

Railway and Infrastructure

  • Furthermore, Indian Railways introduced “Kavach 4.0”. This advanced safety system will stop trains from colliding. It is active on the Mathura–Kota section of the Delhi–Mumbai route.
  • In addition, the government approved four railway multi-tracking projects worth ₹11,169 crore. These cover 13 districts in six states. This will speed up trains and carry more passengers and goods.

Defence and International

  • India and the UAE signed a defence pact during the 13th Joint Defence Cooperation Committee meeting. This, in turn, will increase joint training and defence technology sharing.
  • Meanwhile, INS Satpura reached Singapore for SIMBEX-25, the 32nd edition of the Singapore-India maritime exercise.
  • Also, the Indian Navy got the third ship of the Nilgiri Class under Project 17A. This strengthens India’s naval power.

  • SEBI extended the deadline for updating nominations in mutual funds and demat accounts. Phase-II is now due on 8 August 2025 and Phase-III on 15 December 2025. This gives investors more time to complete updates without rush.
  • Meanwhile, ICAI signed MoUs with NSE IX and IVCA. These deals will promote global investment education and training.
  • Moreover, Google will set up a 1-GW data centre in Visakhapatnam with an investment of USD 6 billion. This will boost digital services and create jobs.
  • Additionally, Reliance Industries ranked 88th in the 2025 Fortune Global 500 list. Walmart remained at the top spot for the 12th year in a row.

  • Former RSS chief Pramila Medhe passed away at 97 on 31 July 2025.
  • German Olympic biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier died in a climbing accident at 31.
